Clifton Hardy Jr. was born November 21, 1948 to the late Clifton Hardy Sr. and Mrs. Annie Lee Evans Hardy of Newton, MS. He was the second of nine children. He graduated from Pilate High School of Newton, MS where he was a phenomenal athlete in both football and track. He was a member of the Whitestone Missionary Baptist Church in Newton, MS where he served as junior deacon. He later married Shirley Graffree and they moved to Gulfport, MS, where they joined Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Roger O. Tyler, and later under Rev. C. R. Shelby, Sr. He was employed at J 0 Collins Contractors for 39 years as was a foreman. Clifton Hardy Jr. departed this life Sunday, April 15, 2012 in Gulfport at the age of 63.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents, three sisters, Annie Pearl Curry, Barbara Hardy Cannon, and Betty Doll Hardy.

He leaves to cherish all of his memories to his devoted wife of 41 years: Shirley Hardy; daughter: Yoka (Evan) Reese; two god sons: Elijawan Cook and Ja Darius Cooley; one brother: Willie James (Thelma) Hardy of Newton, MS; four sisters: Mary Alice Hardy, of Newton, MS, Alice Louise Hardy of Gulfport, MS, Emma Virginia Hardy (Ivell) Bickham of Gulfport, and Nancy Lee (Joesph) May of Gulfport, MS and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.
